Introduction
Hi, this is Between the Lines and today I'm going to talk you through the Knowledge Hub section of our website.
Knowledge hub: Free for teachers, students and parents
So the Knowledge Hub is a fantastic resource that we have put together and it's great for teachers, for students, and for parents and carers. We have got long reads, so discussions, articles, essays,
Long reads: The thinking behind the schemes
ideas that have influenced and inspired the way that we have written our schemes of learning. You can see the thinking behind what we have implemented. So such as reading the whole text, the debate around that, our what, how, why paragraphs and when to take that scaffolding away. Thinking about our thinking between our Securing, Strengthening and Soaring, what that looks like and why we have implemented it and why it is so successful in our schemes of learning. Whole class feedback is something that we do four times through every scheme of learning, our four Feedback Loop kits and this is our evidence and our thinking behind it. Retrieval practice, context. So we know that there's been a debate around what AQA have said in terms of asking for less, used better, actually not just bolting it on at the end, so thinking about actually what do we need to do in terms of context. For teachers we have CPD available and again
For teachers: CPD and quick guides
thinking about actually what our schemes of learning are between the lines look like and what is our rationale, where's the evidence behind it and it's all there for you to have a look. We've also got resources, free resources, everything on our knowledge hub is
For students: Guides and key quotations
free to access. Guides for students, how they are writing their what, how, why paragraphs, the overall guide to those exams and then for each of the core set texts we've got an overview as well as key quotations for them to learn. We've also got advice and guidance for parents and carers, so actually thinking
For parents and carers: Helping when it is not your subject
about how to help with revision when it isn't your subject. Reading for pleasure, encouraging our students and children to be reading, we know that passion and that pleasure of reading really does, we can see it in students' work when that is the case, so how we can encourage that. We've also keep up to date with all the latest education news and you will see
News: Education news in one place
that all and it will appear in our knowledge hub, so if you bookmark the page and everything that comes in, anything that's in the news, we will be having it all here together for you in one place. We've also got this wonderful glossary,
Glossary: 336 terms
so our glossary is, we have compiled 336 words and terms that we think that you need to access and to do well in English. Now obviously some of these are specifically for teaching, so you will see things about adaptive teaching, cognitive load, all those acronyms that we have in teaching, what these all mean, so those are all there for teachers. And then we've got the actual texts, what that looks like in terms of our tier 3 vocabulary, so really useful for students but again useful for teachers in terms of actually what do we need to make sure our students know and then ensuring that they know about context and how those all link to our set texts, so
Emails: Free resources and updates, once a month
a fantastic resource there. So that is all there for you to use for free, no sign up needed, if you do want to get our emails with our free resources and our updates, just pop your email address at the bottom of that page and those will be sent out to you once a month, so lots there for you to access on that knowledge hub.
